Las Vegas Hotels — Best casino hotels in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a popular tourist destination and home to countless casinos and hotels. The city once known as Sin City is now much more than a place to gamble; it is a destination that offers fun for the entire family. It is true that there still is a lot of gambling going on, but today there are also a lot of activities for the entire family to enjoy including the 33 acre theme park at the MGM Grand, all the shopping at the Venetian, the view from the stratosphere, a large selection of shows, and the aquarium at The Mirage.

Las Vegas offers accommodation in all price ranges and even though it is possible to spend a fortune it is also possible to get by on a rather small budget. This is especially true if you are willing to accept a Las Vegas hotel off the strip, but it can be done on the strip as well. It is important to consider all costs when choosing a hotel if you are on a budget. A more expensive hotel on the strip can be better for your budget than a cheaper hotel off the strip if you factor in the cost of taking you where you need to go. With a well located hotel there is a no need for a taxi; you simply walk to most attractions on the strip within minutes. A hotel off strip might require a taxi ride whenever you leave the hotel. Of course, if you think you will spend most of your time in Downtown Las Vegas or perhaps on the Boulder Strip, a hotel in Downtown Las Vegas or on the Boulder strip is to be preferred. There are good, cheap hotels to be found in all of the Las Vegas city centers and you can therefore always choose to live near the venues you plan to visit and save on travel time and expenses without having to give up comfort or breaking the bank.

The four different tourist/gambling zones in Las vegas and the large quantities of hotels can make it hard to find the right hotel to stay at. This website is here to help you find the perfect hotel for your needs. Here you will find reviews of different hotels all over Las Vegas. However, before you start reading them we recommend you ask your self a few question that will help you find the right hotel more easily:

In which part of Las Vegas are you planning to spend the most time?

Are you going to rent a car or is location and communications near the hotel important?

What standard do you want?

What are you willing to pay?

Which services such as WiFi do you want included in the price?

What if any casino do you intend to play at? (Staying at the hotel you play at increases the chance of upgrades and other perks.)

Do you want breakfast? What about lunch or dinner buffet?

Do you want just a hotel or a complete resort?

These where just a few questions to ask yourself. The more you know about what you want, the better. It will make it easier to find the right hotel and make our reviews more useful to you. When you feel you have a good idea about what you want, I recommend that you start browsing our hotel reviews in the Menu. Good luck on your quest to find the perfect hotel!

Destination 360

It’s not especially easy to distinguish the hotels from casinos in Las Vegas. In fact, most of them are one and the same. Only a handful of casinos actually exist in the city without rooms placed somewhere, while the only hotels that don’t include gambling anywhere are the Las Vegas resorts spread throughout the city. Thus, not being able to find one of the Las Vegas casino hotels is like not being able to find your car keys while you are driving.

Las Vegas casino hotels number over 100 within the city limits. As always, the most famous and popular of these are located up and down the Vegas strip, over a mile and a half of hotel casinos ready to let you try your luck. Starting from Mandalay Bay in the south and moving north towards the Stratosphere, you’ll find one Las Vegas hotels casino after another. A few yards down any intersecting street will also bring you to one of many Las Vegas casino hotels. Hooters Casino and Hotel, the Westin, and the Hilton are just a couple examples of great locations just off the main strip.

But for many people seeking out Las Vegas casino hotels, there’s no reason to look past the ones located directly on the strip. Some of the best gambling in the city can be found at Caesars Palace and New York New York — for quality poker games, head to the Bellagio, Wynn, or the Excalibur. For luxury stays, the Wynn is all anyone can talk about, while Treasure Island and the Paris are the underrated masterpieces of the city. If you don’t mind hanging with an older crowd, Ballys Las Vegas is also a nice change of pace from some of the other strip hotels, and Bills Gambling Hall is one of the more unique spots on the strip, imbued with a subtle character that appeals to those who want a non-conformist place to stay on Las Vegas Strip.

Las Vegas Strip Map

Las Vegas casino hotels in the downtown area have a slightly different appeal, shunning most of the city’s penchant for ostentation and instead focusing on those who just want to throw their money around. The limits are often lower than you’ll find at strip hotel casinos, but this is the area where serious gamblers often spend their time. With the exception of the best casinos on the strip, this is the place to find the best comps, the best odds on craps and the Fremont Street Experience is nothing to scoff at either.

Las Vegas casino hotels stretch all the way to the border of the city limits, spilling into the suburbs and lesser known cities like Henderson. Here you’ll find casinos reminiscent of the other off strip establishments — regular middle class folks who just want to see what luck will bring them.

I was comped and could have booked any Caesars hotel but I booked this hotel because I wanted to be off the strip for easy in and out access.

I was there for 3 nights in the Masquerade Tower and the whole time only 2 of the 4 elevators worked. This caused long lines and waits of up to 20 minutes. What a joke!
Stay on a bottom floor so you can take the stairs since the elevators don’t work.

My room had worn furniture and lots of dust built up behind the night stand next to the bed where you would plug in your phone charger. One of the lamps wouldn’t turn on, the faucet was slightly broken, and the toilet would run unless you adjusted the flush knob properly.

There is no food court and a few vacant store fronts.

The housekeeper I had was friendly and I did receive a little amenity box for being a diamond member.

The casino employees were friendly. The check-in agent I had didn’t seem to know the rooms to well.

I will not stay here again.

This hotel is great for both bachelors and bachelorettes. Bachelors will love that the World Series of Poker is held here and they’ll also love the scantily clad waitresses walking around. Bachelorettes will love the Sip and Spa package at the Rio Spa and Salon.

Great place to stay but the Legionaries disease outbreak a few days ago was scary.

Convention time.
Twice a year I go to a Safety Convention run by our insurance company. Our group has grown steadily. 10 years ago we were the 7th company to join, today there are 200 companies. Being so big, we need a big place. This years venue the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It’s a big hotel, able to accommodate a group like ours (about 150 participants). Our group was the small one. Another group had over 1,000 participants. Yikes.

The Room:
800 sq ft in area. The beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Living area had a sofa and a work desk. Flat screen TV, mini bar, refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, iron & ironing board were the amenities they had in the room. All in all, a nice place to relax after a long day of work.

The Convention:
Big rooms to accommodate us.
We had breakfast and lunch catered by the hotel. The food was good, but nothing special.
It is a long long walk to get to the convention area from the hotel.

The Restaurants
The Rio has quite a few of them.
They have 2 buffets. The famous Carnival buffet and the Seafood buffet. I’ve tried both and they are both very good.

Martorano’s is an Italian restaurant. We had our group dinner here and food was great. It’s served family style so it good for a group.

They also have a dim sum (KJ Chinese Dim Sum), Indian (Royal India Bistro), seafood (Buzios), breakfast (Hash House A Go Go) & steak (Voo Doo Steak House) restaurants inside the Rio.

The Casino
All the casino games you expect. They also have a sports book area to bet on games.

The Rio is off the Strip. They offer 2 free shuttles to their sister casinos on the Strip. One goes to Bally’s and the other one goes to Harrah’s. There is a return shuttle from both of those casino back to the Rio. It operates every half hour.

I really enjoyed my time here.
The convention space was huge.
The room are nice and clean.
The restaurant inside the hotel were a plenty.
The casino area was vibrant and fun.
A Las Vegas experience indeed.
